As we all know, the downloadable content we have amassed on our PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles will not be accessible with our upcoming subscriptions to the next generation of consoles. With the next generation looming, but with still a few months to play, lets take a look at some of the best downloadable games we can play on our consoles before we take the big plunge into next generation gaming.
10. Trials Evolution (Xbox 360)
Trails Evolution was a smash hit on Xbox Live Arcade. The title sold millions of copies and helped to add to the growing popularity and continued Microsoft’s stranglehold on the consoles online marketplace.
9. Super Meat Boy (Xbox 360)
Featured on Indie Game: The Movie, Super Meat Boy shot to the top of Xbox Live Arcade almost instantly. The game sold hundreds of thousands of copies in the first week of release, and received rave reviews throughout the gaming community.
8. Castle Crashers (Xbox 360/PS3)
Castle Crashers has to be one of the most popular downloadable titles in XBLA history. The game rose to the top of the charts gaining buzz and notoriety along the way.
7. State of Decay (Xbox 360)
Yes, a zombie game made it to the list. There are tons of them out there, but none quite as spectacular as State of Decay. In State of Decay, you rummage around an open world area, scavenging for supplies and barricading yourself in secure areas for defense. The game was well received by the community and critics.
6. Braid (Xbox 360/PS3)
Another game featured on Indie Game: The Movie, Braid plays host to a gameplay style that features the manipulation of time in fresh and unique ways. Johnathan Blow has received criticism for his attitude and behavior in the gaming industry in the past, but one thing is for sure, Braid is a must play downloadable title.
